Apify alternative:
Scrappey vs Apify
An Apify alternative for when you want one scraping API call, not a platform of Actors to run and pay for.
Objective feature and pricing comparison — all figures cited to the vendor's own public documentation.
What is Scrappey?
Scrappey is an all-in-one web scraping API designed to simplify data extraction from modern websites. It bundles JavaScript rendering, residential/datacenter proxies, and browser verification workflow support into a single per-request price — no subscription, no minimum spend.
Built for developers, data engineers, and AI/RAG builders, Scrappey runs authorized browser sessions with challenge handling, renders JavaScript, and returns content in HTML, JSON, or LLM-ready Markdown. You only pay for successful requests.
What is Apify?
Apify is a platform for running "Actors": serverless programs that scrape, crawl, or automate a site, either written by you or picked from the Apify Store. Plans are prepaid monthly usage: Free ($5 of usage per month, no card), Starter ($19/mo), Scale ($199/mo) and Business ($999/mo). Runs are billed in compute units (1 CU = 1 GB of RAM for one hour, $0.20 down to $0.13 by plan), residential proxies cost $7–$8 per GB, and many Store Actors add their own per-result price. Unused usage expires at the end of the billing cycle. Where Apify is ahead: a large store of ready-made scrapers, scheduling, datasets and storage built in, and Crawlee, its open-source crawling library.

Scrappey vs Apify: feature-by-feature
Every claim is verifiable from the vendor's public documentation.
| Feature | Scrappey | Apify |
|---|---|---|
Product type ★ Different shapes: Apify runs whole scraping programs; Scrappey fetches pages for the code you already have. | One scraping API | Platform for running Actors (scrapers) + Store |
Pricing model ★ | Flat per request, residential proxy included | Compute units ($0.20–$0.13/CU) + proxy GB + per-result fees on many Actors |
Entry commitment | None (PAYG) | Monthly plan ($19 / $199 / $999), or free tier |

Apify or Scrappey: which fits your project?
Choose Apify if
- –A ready-made Actor in the Apify Store already scrapes the site and fields you need.
- –You want hosting, scheduling, queues and datasets for whole crawling programs in one place.
- –You build on Crawlee and want to deploy it as-is.
Choose Scrappey if
- –You already have scraping code and only need pages fetched reliably, with JavaScript rendering and residential proxies.
- –You want to know the cost of each request up front instead of adding up compute units, proxy gigabytes and per-result fees.
- –Your usage varies month to month. Scrappey balance never expires; Apify usage resets each cycle.
- –You want LLM-ready Markdown or JSON back from a single call for an agent or RAG pipeline.

Apify alternative: common questions
What is the difference between Apify and Scrappey?
Apify is a platform: you run Actors, which are complete scraping programs, and pay for the compute, proxy traffic and sometimes per-result fees they use. Scrappey is a single API: you send a URL and get the rendered page, Markdown or JSON back, at a flat price per request with a residential proxy included.
Is Scrappey cheaper than Apify?
It depends on the job. For fetching pages with a browser and residential proxy, Scrappey costs €1.00 per 1,000 requests with nothing else to add. On Apify the same work costs the compute units the Actor uses plus $7–$8 per GB of residential traffic, and many Store Actors add a per-result price. If a cheap Store Actor already covers your target, Apify can come out lower.
Can I use Scrappey from my existing crawler code?
Yes. Scrappey is a plain REST API, so any crawler (Scrapy, Crawlee, Playwright scripts or your own code) can send it a URL and parse the HTML or Markdown it returns.
