Success-only billing

Only pay for scrapes that work

Failed requests are free. If Scrappey cannot return the requested content, your account is not charged. Residential proxies are included on both the €0.20/1K direct-HTTP tier and the €1.00/1K full-browser tier — no separate proxy billing. One of the few scraping APIs where our incentives genuinely match yours.

How success-only billing works

No tricks, no fine-print exclusions

01

Send your request

Call the Scrappey API with your target URL. We route through the right proxy, run a managed headless-browser session, and render JavaScript automatically.

02

We measure outcome

A request counts as successful only if we return a valid response from your target — not a challenge page, not a block page, not a timeout.

03

Failed requests are free

If we could not deliver the content within our retry budget, your account is not charged. You only pay for scrapes that worked.

Why success-only billing matters

Especially on JavaScript-heavy sites with browser verification flows, where failure rates are high

Hard targets fail often

On JavaScript-heavy sites with browser verification flows, 30–50% of requests can fail across the industry. Paying for every attempt means paying twice for every successful one.

Predictable cost per page

Your invoice equals your data. Forecasting a scraping budget stops being guesswork — multiply pages you actually want by the flat rate.

Our incentive matches yours

When we're only paid for success, we invest in making more requests succeed. That is the opposite of per-attempt billing, where failures are revenue.

A worked example

100,000 requests to a hard target, 70% success rate

Residential proxies are included on both tiers — no add-on fees.

Per-attempt billing (typical)
Pays for 100,000 attempts
  • • 70,000 successful pages
  • • 30,000 failed requests — still charged
  • • Effective cost per usable page is ~43% higher than the list rate
Scrappey success-only billing
Pays for 70,000 successes
  • • 70,000 successful pages
  • • 30,000 failures — no charge
  • • Cost per usable page equals the list rate

Frequently asked

What counts as a successful request?
A successful request returns a valid response from the target site — not a challenge page, CAPTCHA, WAF page, or a connection error. If we deliver the content you asked for, you pay. If we cannot, you don't.
What about partial successes (e.g. I got some HTML but missed the data)?
If Scrappey returns a 200 response from the target and renders JavaScript as requested, that counts as success at the infrastructure level. Downstream parsing of that HTML is your own logic and is not factored into billing.
How many retries does Scrappey attempt before marking a request failed?
Internally we rotate browser session configurations, proxies, and strategies across multiple attempts under the hood for each request you send. You see one request, one charge (or none, if all attempts fail).
Can I see which requests were billed vs. free?
Yes. Your dashboard shows per-request outcome, per-domain success rate, and exact credits consumed. No hidden line items.
