Scrappey vs FlareSolverr
A hosted FlareSolverr alternative with the same request format, residential proxies included, and nothing to keep running.

What is Scrappey?
Scrappey is an all-in-one web scraping API designed to simplify data extraction from modern websites. It bundles JavaScript rendering, residential/datacenter proxies, and browser verification workflow support into a single per-request price — no subscription, no minimum spend.
Built for developers, data engineers, and AI/RAG builders, Scrappey runs authorized browser sessions with challenge handling, renders JavaScript, and returns content in HTML, JSON, or LLM-ready Markdown. You only pay for successful requests.
What is FlareSolverr?
FlareSolverr is a free, open-source proxy server you host yourself. When a request arrives it opens Chrome through Selenium and undetected-chromedriver, loads the URL, waits for Cloudflare or DDoS-GUARD challenge pages to finish, and returns the HTML and cookies. It listens on port 8191 and takes JSON commands such as request.get, request.post and sessions.create. Each request starts a new browser unless you use a session, so memory use grows quickly with concurrency, and the project asks users not to expose it to the internet. Its README notes that the built-in CAPTCHA integrations currently do not work. Where FlareSolverr is ahead: it costs nothing, runs on your own hardware, and keeps every request on your network.

Scrappey vs FlareSolverr: feature-by-feature
Every claim is verifiable from the vendor's public documentation.
| Feature | Scrappey | FlareSolverr |
|---|---|---|
Request format ★ Same command names and the HTML in solution.response, so most code only needs a new endpoint and key. | cmd: request.get / request.post / sessions.create | cmd: request.get / request.post / sessions.create |
Hosting | Managed API | Self-hosted (Docker or binary, x64) |
Cost ★ | €1.00 per 1,000 browser requests | Free software; you pay for servers and proxies |
Proxies ★ | Residential included, 120+ countries | Bring your own (HTTP, SOCKS4, SOCKS5) |
Interactive verification challenges | Handled during authorized workflows | Waits for challenge pages; README says its CAPTCHA integrations currently don't work |
Concurrency | 200 by default, auto-scales to 1,000 | Limited by your server: one browser per request unless sessions are reused |
Output | HTML, JSON, Markdown, text, screenshots | HTML, cookies, optional screenshot |
Browser actions | 20 actions incl. if/while control flow | Load the page and wait |
Data location Honest trade-off: with FlareSolverr no request leaves your network. | EU infrastructure | Your own machine or network |

FlareSolverr or Scrappey: which fits your project?
Choose FlareSolverr if
- –Your volume is low and you have spare server capacity to run Chrome.
- –Requests must stay on your own network.
- –You are fine updating the container and debugging it when a target site changes how its challenge pages work.
Choose Scrappey if
- –You run more than a handful of requests at once and don't want to size servers for one browser per request.
- –You need residential proxies in specific countries without buying and wiring them up separately.
- –You want interactive verification challenges handled, not only pages that finish loading by themselves.
- –You also want Markdown or JSON output, screenshots, or multi-step browser actions from the same call.
Switching from FlareSolverr to Scrappey
Scrappey uses the same command format as FlareSolverr, and the page HTML is in solution.response in both. In most code you only change the endpoint and add your API key.
import requests
resp = requests.post(
"http://localhost:8191/v1",
json={
"cmd": "request.get",
"url": "https://example.com",
"maxTimeout": 60000,
},
)
html = resp.json()["solution"]["response"]import requests
resp = requests.post(
"https://publisher.scrappey.com/api/v1?key=YOUR_SCRAPPEY_KEY",
json={
"cmd": "request.get",
"url": "https://example.com",
},
timeout=180,
)
html = resp.json()["solution"]["response"]| FlareSolverr | Scrappey |
|---|---|
| cmd: request.get / request.post | Same commands |
| postData | Same: "postData" with request.post |
| sessions.create / sessions.destroy | Same commands; a session closes 200 seconds after its last request |
| proxy: {"url": ...} | Not needed: residential proxy included. Pin a country with "proxyCountry". |
| maxTimeout | Drop it; set a client timeout of about 180 seconds instead |
What Scrappey brings to the table
One API, one rate, all features included
Browser verification workflow support
Scrappey supports JavaScript rendering, session handling, retry logic, and verification workflows for authorized browser sessions using real browser engines and consistent browser session configuration. No premium add-ons, no per-feature credits.
Browser automation built in
20 browser actions — click, type, scroll, wait, execute JS, dropdowns, iframes — plus if/while control flow for multi-step flows. No Selenium or Playwright infrastructure required.
Sessions & persistent profiles
Keep cookies and local storage across requests with sessions, or save a persistent browser profile and reuse it indefinitely — no re-initializing the browser between calls.
Zero infrastructure
No servers, no proxy pools, no browser farm. Built-in scheduling runs jobs on our infrastructure and delivers via webhook.
High concurrency included
200 concurrent requests per account by default, auto-scaling to 1,000, with country targeting across 120+ countries. Parallel requests at no extra cost.
Developer & LLM workflow capabilities
Simple REST API with SDKs across Python, Node, PHP, Go, Ruby, C#, plus an MCP server, LangChain, LlamaIndex, and a Claude Code Skill for AI agents. LLM-ready Markdown/JSON output, AI extraction to your own JSON structure, clear docs, active Discord, GDPR-compliant EU infrastructure.

FlareSolverr alternative: common questions
What is a good FlareSolverr alternative?
If you want to keep self-hosting, you can run your own Playwright or Puppeteer setup instead. If you would rather not run browsers at all, a hosted API like Scrappey takes the same request.get / request.post commands as FlareSolverr, includes residential proxies, and scales without you adding servers.
Is Scrappey compatible with FlareSolverr requests?
Mostly. Scrappey uses the same cmd values (request.get, request.post, sessions.create, sessions.destroy), accepts postData and session the same way, and returns the HTML in solution.response. Change the endpoint, add your API key, and remove FlareSolverr-only options such as maxTimeout and the proxy object.
Is FlareSolverr free?
Yes, the software is free and open source. Running it still costs the servers that host the browsers and any proxies you add, and each concurrent request needs its own browser unless you reuse sessions.
Why does FlareSolverr stop working on some sites?
FlareSolverr waits for challenge pages to complete in a real browser. When a site changes how its challenge works, or shows an interactive CAPTCHA, FlareSolverr can time out until the project ships an update. Its README also notes that the built-in CAPTCHA integrations currently do not work.
