Find out which DNS resolvers your browser is actually using. If you’re behind a VPN or proxy but your DNS still routes to your ISP, that’s a DNS leak — a privacy and operational issue this tool diagnoses by comparing your resolvers against your HTTPS-visible IP.
For diagnostic use. Run this on your own machine to verify your proxy or VPN’s DNS routing. No queries are stored beyond the test session.
Click Run DNS leak test above. Your browser will resolve a handful of unique probe hostnames, then we read back which resolvers performed those lookups and compare them to your HTTPS-visible IP.
When you visit a site, your machine first asks a DNS resolver to turn the hostname into an IP address. If your traffic is tunnelled through a VPN or proxy but those DNS lookups still go to your ISP’s resolver, your ISP — and anyone observing it — can see every domain you visit, even while the HTTP traffic itself looks proxied.
This test forces your browser to resolve unique probe hostnames, then reads back which resolvers performed the lookups. A resolver that belongs to a consumer ISP rather than your VPN provider or a known public DNS is a leak.
1.1.1.1 or 8.8.8.8 instead of your ISP’s.Pair this with the WebRTC leak test to confirm your browser isn’t exposing your real IP either.
Scrappey resolves DNS through the same exit as its HTTP traffic, so there’s no resolver mismatch to leak. Point your scraper at the API instead of wrestling with client-side DNS settings.
