What is Akamai Bot Manager?

Akamai Bot Manager is the bot-protection product layered on top of Akamai's CDN. It is what protects most major airlines, banks, government portals, and retail giants. Detection relies on a "sensor data" payload computed by a JavaScript SDK and verified at the edge.

Why is Akamai considered the toughest stack to interoperate with?

Two reasons: the sensor-data payload is heavily obfuscated and rotated, and Akamai's CDN sees a massive fraction of global traffic so its IP reputation data is unrivalled. Even browser-based clients get throttled if the IP looks suspicious.
